Two of the IAWJ’s largest partner associations – the U.S. National Association of Women Judges and the Canadian Chapter of the IAWJ – make up the North America region of the IAWJ. As noted in the IAWJ’s Jubilee History Book, the IAWJ itself was founded out of the NAWJ as it celebrated its 10th anniversary in 1989 and invited women judges from around the world to the celebration. It was out of this first encounter that these international women judges decided to form an international association that the IAWJ was born and then developed enthusiastically over the next decade by its founder and first president and executive director, the Hon. Arline Pacht.

The NAWJ and CCIAWJ both conduct active programming and hold annual meetings of their associations. Members from each are invited to participate in the reciprocal meetings. You can learn more about the NAWJ at www.nawj.org.
