Sarah E. Turberville

Executive Director

Sarah E. Turberville is Executive Director of the International Association of Women Judges. Sarah is an expert on access to justice and fair courts in the U.S. and has worked extensively with state and federal judges to advance meaningful legal reform to protect the rights of the most vulnerable members of society. She has previously led programs on criminal justice and democratic institutions at the Project On Government Oversight, The Constitution Project, and the American Bar Association, and has also worked as a public defender, served as adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland, and as a law clerk to the defense bar before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague. Sarah is a graduate of Tulane Law School and a member of the Maryland Bar.

Jane Charles-Voltaire, Esq (she/her)

Deputy Executive Director



Jane Charles-Voltaire, Esq. is the IAWJ Deputy Executive Director. Jane has almost 15 years of experience in international law and international program management. Before joining the IAWJ, Jane worked in Haiti for four years as local counsel for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Haiti). In addition, Jane has extensive on the ground experience through her work in the non-profit sector, she worked for two years with Viva Rio, an innovative Brazilian non-profit organization, implementing projects in the health, community security, education and environment sectors within Port-au-Prince. 

Jane earned her B.A. in Romance Languages and Literature from Wesleyan University and her J.D. from Temple University's Beasley School of Law.

Anne T. Goldstein

Curriculum and Program Development Director



Anne Tierney Goldstein is a Senior Advisor to the IAWJ. Over many years she has had the honor of working with IAWJ members from all over the world to develop and implement judicial training curricula involving discrimination and gender-based violence, property rights, rights within families, employment discrimination and sexual harassment, sextortion, human trafficking, and the rights of LGBTQI persons. She has taught international women’s human rights law at the graduate and undergraduate level at Georgetown.


Amie Lewis (she/her)

Senior Programs Officer



Amie Lewis is the Senior Program Officer leading the Women in Leadership in Law (WILIL) initiative at the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ). She designs and implements programs that advance gender equality and strengthen women’s leadership in judicial systems across Africa, Latin America, and Asia, collaborating with judges’ associations and high-level stakeholders to drive institutional reforms. Amie oversees program operations, monitoring and evaluation, and co-hosts Justice Beyond the Bench, a podcast amplifying women’s voices in the judiciary. She has directed pro bono initiatives, implemented court reforms, and developed technology-driven solutions to expand access to justice and support survivors of gender-based violence. Amie previously worked as a certified paralegal in private and public firms and is a former AmeriCorps VISTA, where she focused on mediation, policy, and community engagement. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Women’s Studies.

Nephtaly Pierre-Louis

Senior Communications and Membership Officer




Nephtaly Pierre-Louis serves as Senior Communications and Membership Officer at the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ). In this role, he oversees global communications strategy, membership engagement, and outreach across 50+ national chapters. Prior to joining IAWJ as staff, he worked as Project Outreach Coordinator for the USAID-funded BEST project on human trafficking, co-implemented by the Association in Haiti. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Taiwan and is fluent in Haitian Creole, French, and English. His professional experience spans international development, multilateral cooperation, and capacity-building, with a strong commitment to advancing human rights, gender justice, and youth empowerment.

Talia Soledad Quiroz Cossio (she/her)

Talia Quiroz Cossio is the Communications Officer at the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ), where she leads the organization’s digital strategy, branding, and content creation. She manages IAWJ’s website and global social media presence, ensuring that all communications reflect the mission of advancing gender equality in the judiciary. With years of experience in social media management, data analysis, and creative storytelling, Talia develops strategies that strengthen engagement with members, partners, and global audiences. She also contributes to the Women in Leadership in Law (WILIL) Initiative, supporting communication efforts and strategic planning to amplify women judges’ voices worldwide.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business with emphasis on Digital Marketing.

Ayra Soliman


WILIL Program Coordinator 



Ayra Soliman is a second-year law student at San Beda University and an intern with the International Association of Women Judges. She is deeply committed to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment, with a particular focus on integrating gender-sensitive perspectives in legal research, policy, and advocacy. Her interests also include supporting the rights of indigenous peoples, farmers, and fisherfolk, especially where these intersect with women’s rights. Ayra brings strong research, writing, and organizational skills, and is keen on strengthening gender justice through the synergy of international legal advocacy and grassroots work.

Thando Ntlabati


WILIL Program Coordinator



Thando Ntlabati is a final year Law student and Bachelor of Social Science graduate at the University of Cape Town. During her undergraduate degree she specialised in African Feminist Studies and South African Political Thought, ranking top of her class in Political Theory. She reserves a fervent interest in social development as it relates to political, gender, and jural frameworks, and is an advocate for intentional and context-responsive change. She has served in the highest executive capacities in various United Nations campus chapters and has spent a considerable amount of time in the non-profit space, having trained with land and spatial justice organizations such as Ndifuna Ukwazi and in youth development programs with The Justice Desk Africa. She has also provided pro bono legal services through an internship with Gender Rights In Tech, an anti Gender-Based-Violence organization championing AI as a psychosocial resource to address issues of access to justice for survivors of domestic and sexual violence across South Africa. Her academic and professional interests orient themselves towards the pursuit of a national potential and ways of leveraging systems of law and politics in service of this endeavour.

Edna Mwiti

WILIL Program Coordinator


Mwiti Edna is a final-year Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) student at the University of Nairobi with a strong foundation in legal research and advocacy. She has distinguished herself in competitive advocacy, having been part of the team awarded Best Anglophone Team at the 2024 African Gender Equality Moot Court Competition. In 2025, she led her team to secure Best Overall Team at the 34th Christof Heyns Moot Court Competition, where she also emerged as 2nd Runners-Up Best Oralist, demonstrating strong analytical skill, courtroom advocacy, and leadership under pressure. Beyond competitive advocacy, her written works reflect a sustained engagement with complex legal and social questions. Her academic and professional interests lie in public international law, human rights, women’s rights, and gender-based violence, with a particular focus on rights-based and victim-centered approaches to justice within regional and international legal frameworks. 


Marzia Zunino

Membership and Communications Coordinator


Marzia Zunino recently graduated from Sciences Po University in France with a degree in Political Humanities and spent her year abroad at George Washington University focusing on journalism. She interned at the Wilson Center in Washington, DC, and has also served with the American Red Cross in Chicago as a Disaster Action Team Officer. Her academic and professional interests focus on human rights, advocacy-oriented journalism, and international relations. Following her gap year, she plans to return to Sciences Po to pursue a master’s degree in journalism.
