Maria Filomena D. Singh

Associate Justice, Supreme Court of the Philippines


Justice Maria Filomena D. Singh, the 194th Associate Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court and only the 18th woman in this role, holds a Juris Doctor degree from Ateneo de Manila University and a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies from American University. As Co-Chair of the Supreme Court’s Committee on Gender Responsiveness and the FAIR Justice Program with the Australian government, she plays a pivotal role in advancing gender equity and accessible justice. She has also led numerous judicial reforms, including the establishment of Justice Zones and Specialty Justice Zones on anti-trafficking and environmental protection. Before her 2025 election as President-Elect, she served as IAWJ Regional Director for the Asia Pacific, organizing the 2024 IAWJ Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Cebu, Philippines.

Robyn Tupman

Judge Robyn Tupman has served as a Judge of the District Court of NSW for 29 years, primarily presiding over criminal jury trials involving both state and federal offences. A former solicitor and barrister, she was recognized as a life member of the Women Lawyers’ Association of NSW (WLA) in 2015 and received its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. She has held various leadership roles, including President of the Australian Association of Women Judges (2014–2021) and Secretary/Treasurer of the IAWJ (2021–2025), and was elected IAWJ Vice President in 2025. Since 2021, she has also been part of an IAWJ committee assisting Afghan women judges with evacuation and resettlement following the Taliban takeover.

Amy Lazaro - Javier

Associate Justice Supreme Court of the Philippines


Justice Amy C. Lazaro-Javier, appointed as the 182nd Associate Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court in 2019, is one of only two female justices currently serving on the bench. Previously, she served 12 years as an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals, maintaining a zero-case backlog. A strong advocate for gender equality, she co-authored gender-fair language guidelines for the judiciary alongside Justice Maria Filomena D. Singh. Currently, she is the President of the Philippine Women Judges Association, Vice President of the IAWJ, and Chairperson of both the Committee on Family Courts and Juvenile Concerns and the 2025 Philippine Bar Examinations.

Nicola Mathers

Auckland District Court, New Zealand



Judge Mathers was appointed a District Court Judge in 2000 with a general and jury warrant, and held the role of Civil Liaison Judge for the northern region of New Zealand for a number of years. She has been the co-ordinator of and presented seminars by the Institute of Judicial Studies. Judge Nicola Mathers was appointed as one of the two IAWJ Regional Directors for the Asia-Pacific region in 2020. Judge Nicola Mathers was appointed Treasurer for the NZAWJ Te Kāhui Kaiwhakawā Wāhine o Aotearoa on its inception in 2006, and held the role of President from 2010-2015, and remains on the executive committee of the Association.

Binta Nyako

Binta Nyako has been a Judge of the Federal High court of Nigeria since 2000. She has over 2 decades of combined experience in presiding over court proceedings, adjudication, delivery of judgements and rulings. Her expertise cuts across criminal, constitutional, and human rights laws. Justice Nyako was appointed as the first women chief judge of Bauchi State from 2014 to 2017 which has made her the first woman to head a high court bench in Nigeria. She was also the attorney general and commissioner for Justice of Katsina State from 1994 to 1996.

Justice Ann Walsh Bradley serves on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, having first been elected to the position in 1995 and twice re-elected in statewide elections. She currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Managerial Trustees of the IAWJ, an ex-officio member of the IAWJ Board, and is a founding member of the Global Network on Electoral Justice. She has served as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Judicial Academy and as an international lecturer for organizations including the Academy, the American Bar Association’s Asia Law Initiative, the U.S. Department of State, the International Law Development Organization, the International Finance Corporation, the IAWJ and has served as an Associate Dean of the Wisconsin Judicial College.

Julie McIntyre

Honourable Justice Julie McIntyre graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Adelaide University in 1983. She practised as a barrister and solicitor in private practice for 24 years, including as principal at Hartfield McIntyre Miller and then as local managing partner of Sparke Helmore Lawyers. In 2007, her Honour was appointed as a judge of the District Court of South Australia, a position she held until her appointment to the Supreme Court in February 2023. Her Honour is currently the President of the Australian Association of Women Judges.

Ita Farrelly 

District Tribunal Judge, United Kingdom


Judge Ita Farrelly is the youngest female full-time judge to be appointed in the UK (2018) and now UK leadership Judge in 2023. She was appointed as a diversity and communications judge and a board member of the UKAWJ since 2018. Educating the public and judiciary about the role of judges and equal rights and interests of women. In 2020, 2022 & 2023 she has promoted women’s access to the courts, speaking at the UK Law Society lecture series about career progression and fighting inequality for women (age, appearance, area, location, scholarly route). She had assisted in the resettlement of Afghanistan women judges initiatives, liaising and guest speaking at several international events.


Salima Rouhi

Commerce Tribunal Judge, Morocco


The honorable Judge Salima Rouhi is on the Trade Court of Casablanca and a member of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) and her Moroccan chapter the Union of Moroccan Women Judges (UMAWJ). She currently holds the post of secretary-general within the Union of Women Judges and the post of regional director for the Europe/MENA region among the IAWJ. Previously, she chaired the Chamber of tort cases, the Chamber of Violence against women and children and the Chamber of the Labor Law. She was a member of the Chamber of personal status of Moroccan expatriates (mixed-race marriage, exequatur).

Sherlanne Pierre 

Master of High Court, Trinidad and Tobago


Master Sherlanne Pierre sits in the civil division of the High Court of Trinidad and Tobago. Prior to that, she sat in the Family and Children Division where she presided over matters concerning the welfare of children and the preservation of family life in unconventional ways. She sits on the Executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Women Judges and is former tutor at the Hugh Wooding Law School. Master Pierre remains involved in her local community where she teaches pre-teens about self-esteem and relationships and organises initiatives to provide companionship and support to senior citizens. 


Susana Ester Medina 

High Court of Justice of Entre Ríos, Argentina


Susana Medina is the President of Chamber No. 3 of Labor of the High Court of Justice of Entre Ríos, Argentina, and the current Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the IAWJ (2025–2027). She holds multiple advanced degrees in law, gender studies, and human rights and is the former President of the International Association of Women Judges (2016–2018). Medina is also the President of the Federation of Latin American Women Judges (FEMJUL) and has received several honorary memberships and awards, including the “Arline Pacht Global Vision Award” from the IAWJ in 2023. She has delivered over 100 lectures worldwide, organized a major seminar on human trafficking at the Vatican in 2018, and contributed to the establishment of the Global Judicial Integrity Network with UNODC.

Bernadette D'Souza

Judge Bernadette D’Souza was elected as the first Family Court Judge of the Civil District Court. She served as Chief Judge in 2021 and 2022. She has dedicated her legal career to public interest law with a passion for domestic violence issues and family law. She taught law students as an adjunct professor, serves on the faculty of the National Judicial Institute of NCJFCJ and has presented at numerous conferences on domestic violence issues locally, nationally and internationally, including Yerevan, Armenia, Trinidad and Tobago, Seoul, South Korea, and at the United Nations Convention on Status of Women. She served as President of the National Association of Women Judges 2019-2020. For her humanitarian work and judicial leadership in domestic violence law, she has received several prominent awards.

Roli Harriman

High Court Judge, Nigeria


The Honourable Justice Harriman is a judge of the High Court of Delta State. She also is an ADR judge and Vice Chair of the Governing Council of the Delta State Multidoor Courthouse. She is a CEDR (UK) Accredited Mediator, holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK. She has had varied experience as a mediator in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom and a great advocate of forging peace worldwide through mediation. She served on the Panel of Neutrals of the Multidoor courthouses at the Abuja and Lagos High Courts, and was chairman of the National Committee on the Replication of Multidoor courthouses in Nigeria between 2004 and 2008. 

Henrietta Wolayo

High Court Judge, Uganda


Lady Justice Henrietta Wolayo is a judge of the High Court since 2013. She is the President of the IAWJ Africa Region and Director for East and Central Africa, on the IAWJ Board based in Washington .DC. She is the immediate Past of President of IAWJ Uganda Chapter since 2018 and was the chief host for the IAWJ Africa Region Conference held in Kampala, Uganda from October 26 to 29. She has worked in various parts of Uganda since her appointment in 2013 and before that when she was a magistrate and registrar. She holds a Masters in Business Association form ESAMI; a Master of Philosophy from the University of Zimbabwe and a Bachelor of Laws form Makerere University.
