The Philippine Women Judges Association (PWJA) and the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ), with the support of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, are inviting members across the globe to the 29th Annual Convention-Seminar of the PWJA and the 2024 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of the IAWJ on May 8 to 10, 2024 at Fili Hotel, NuStar Resort and Casino, Southern Properties, Cebu City, Cebu, with the theme: Women Lead: Transforming Asia-Pacific and Changing the World. The event will also be carried out with the support of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Asian Development Bank, and the Justice Sector Reform Programme: Governance in Justice (GOJUST).
Women judges play a pivotal role in shaping the judiciary and in upholding the rule of law. Their participation promotes gender-sensitive adjudication and strengthens trust in the justice system.
Empowering our women judges is essential in fostering a more inclusive and just society. Their resilience and leadership are instrumental as they navigate the challenges on emerging issues involving security risks, climate change and gender-parity.
The upcoming event provides a welcoming environment for dialogue and collaboration among women judges of diverse backgrounds to facilitate knowledge exchange on gender fairness, equality, and inclusivity, and to share best practices in addressing these issues in order to make a meaningful difference within the legal sphere and beyond.
